Personal Background
Euney Marie J. Mata-Perez is the founding and managing partner of Mata-Perez, Tamayo & Francisco (MTF). A seasoned corporate and tax lawyer, she has more than 30 years of experience in corporate and tax practice. She has acted as counsel to several multinational and domestic corporations engaged in business in various industries, including power, manufacturing, education, real estate, service, and technology. Her extensive experience includes handling special projects, contracts, project financing, mergers and acquisitions, tax assessments, and tax litigation cases.
Graduating summa cum laude upon completing her Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting at the University of San Carlos in 1985, she was also named The Outstanding Graduate and became a Certified Public Accountant in the same year. She earned her Juris Doctor in 1992 from the Ateneo de Manila University as Class Salutatorian and was admitted to the Bar in 1993. She also completed a Strategic Business Economics Program in 2020 from the University of Asia and the Pacific.
Aside from her role at MTF, she has been teaching corporate law and transportation law at the Ateneo Law School since 2023. Euney has also acted as director in various corporations, including as an independent director for Alipay Philippines, Inc., Lopez Holdings, Inc., Treasure Island Industrial Corporation, and the Rural Bank of Rizal (ZN). She is also the corporate secretary of several companies and has advised clients on various aspects of the law, including those on corporate governance, audit, and risk.
She is a past president of the Asia Oceania Tax Consultants’ Association and the Tax Management Association of the Philippines.
She is a highly ranked legal and finance professional by several organizations, including the Asia Business Law Journal, Chambers & Partners, Expert Guides, and ITR World Tax. A leader, she is very active in advocacy work through various associations and initiatives and is frequently invited to lecture on tax and corporate law.
